I often find websites with information which I don’t have time to read, so I bookmark them to save them for later. In my busy schedule my bookmarks can get out of place. So you can imagine how many bookmarks I have. Firefox stores bookmarks in the order received. The latest/most recent bookmark is at the bottom of the bookmarks list.
I’ll work on projects and sometimes I’ll get brain farts, forgetting a necessary package in Ubuntu or a particular CSS hack. I’ll refer to my bookmarks but they are all out of order with no rhyme or reason.

I’ll sometimes have to go through most of bookmarks to find that one reference website. The first browser I used was of course Internet Explorer. To sort by name in IE all you have to do is right click the folder or any link in the Favorites menu and the “Sort by Name” function is displayed in the menu. In Firefox, you can right click the folder but not the links.

If you selected the wrong folder or link and right click again the Bookmarks drop-down menu closes.
To sort your bookmarks in Firefox 3 you have to right click “Bookmark This Page” from the drop-down menu and “Sort By Name” function will be available.

Alternatively you can also sort the bookmarks by going to Bookmarks >> Organize Bookmarks…>>right click Bookmarks Menu and select “Sort By Name” from the drop-down.
