AutoPatcher

I’ve used AutoPatcher for many years. As an IT professional, I have to install or reinstall new Windows operating systems all the time. If the workstations were all the same make and model I could use something like Symantec’s Ghost or Acronis True Image and Sysprep to clone the operating system, but what if they were different. I would need to install each operating system on each workstation then manually update them one by one. Easy? Only if you were working on 2 workstations. I manage servers, user support and escalated network/server issues. I cannot work on 2 workstations all day. That’s why I depend on applications like AutoPatcher.

Microsoft Office

I received a call from my sister in Colorado; she had a friend in Florida with a huge problem. The Floridian was working on his thesis for college on MS Word 2000. It was about 9pm when I got the call so in Florida it must have been 12am. While trying to save the document to his USB flash jump drive, for some reason, without warning he received a Microsoft Word error. The error indicated Word would need to be restarted and closed down automatically. The transfer to the jump drive abruptly aborted. When he tried opening the file on his desktop the file was in gibberish. When he tried locating the file on his USB jump drive, thinking the copy must be there, yielded in a horrible reality, THE FILE WAS GONE!!

“Duh!!! What’s the freakin password again?” See, the problem is not with memory nor do I lack the interest to manage and maintain my operating system installs, it’s just that I have way too many operating systems installed.

Taskbar Not Responding

My work PC is apart of a domain. It’s running Windows XP SP2 with all updates critical and recommended as of today. It’s sporting a Intel Pentium D 3GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. It has a video card that shares some 128 RAM. After some idle time it goes into screensaver mode and locks my PC. For me to log back onto my PC I need to ctrl+alt+delete.

After my PCI video card for my work PC crapped out, which I removed, my taskbar would freeze up for 15 – 20 seconds after I logged into my PC. When I start up my PC the taskbar is fine. It’s only when it goes into screensaver mode and log back in does it stop responding for a few seconds.

Susie and Vandy Sieng’s Wedding

This was my sister Susie’s wedding in Long Beach, California on June 15, 2007. I filmed this with my Sony FX-7 in HD.

Credits: George Cha for helping me film most of the traditional ceremony. Joel Ferrer for filming most of the reception.
